There have been a number of incidents lately where I've needed to see
logs but have been working on init, and broken the log output of
srv.logger. This commit adds a debug console output to io port 0x6600
if enabled at the top of logger.cpp.
I discovered that QEMU has a "remote" option to the `-vnc` switch, which
causes it to reverse-connect to a VNC client on start. I've added this
into qemu.sh as the -r option.
This change introduces test_runner, which runs unit or integration tests
and then tells the kernel to exit QEMU with a status code indicating the
number of failed tests.
The test_runner program is not loaded by default. Use the test manifest
to enable it:
./configure --manifest=assets/manifests/test.yml
A number of tests from the old src/tests have moved over. More to come,
as well as moving code from testapp before getting rid of it.
The test.sh script has been repurposed to be a "headless" version of
qemu.sh for running tests, and it exits with the appropriate exit code.
(Though ./qemu.sh gained the ability to exit with the correct exit code
as well.) Exit codes from kernel panics have been updated so that the
bash scripts should exit with code 127.
Changes to qemu.sh:
- Now takes the -l/--log option to create the qemu log in jsix.log,
otherwise does not ask qemu to log. (Way faster operations.)
- Remove the debug-isa-exit device when starting with the --debug flag,
so that we can inspect panics
- Changed from 512M to 4G of ram
If there's no video, do as we did before, otherwise route logs to the fb
driver instead. (Need to clean this up to just have a log consumer
general interface?) Also added a "scrollback" class to fb driver and
updated the system_get_log syscall.
- Add a tag field to all endpoint messages, which doubles as a
notification field
- Add a endpoint_bind_irq syscall to enable an endpoint to listen for
interrupt notifications. This mechanism needs to change.
- Add a temporary copy of the serial port code to nulldrv, and let it
take responsibility for COM2
GDB works far better now with QEMU's `-S` flag. No longer does it
complain about changing the target from 32 to 64 bits. Get rid of the
old `waiting` loop and `sleep` call in the GDB config for the kernel.

The modules.yaml now has an optional defines: list per module that adds
preprocessor definitions to the build scripts. Also added a --debug flag
to qemu.sh to run QEMU's debugger host.
